The deep wound of a nation, which is far from being healed, is about to endure a one year anniversary that for many, especially those who lost loved ones, will probably be more like a wake . . . forcing up suppressed feelings that should never have to be.

And yet, we must endure and remember proudly for the sake of those innocent lives lost while working in the twin towers, being a passenger on one of the doomed flights, performing their patriotic duty at the Pentagon, and coming to the aid of those in peril.  It is also our and citizens of other affected countries right to be very angry . . . at those who caused all the pain, sorrow, grief, and/or financial hardships brought home to them.

Do we turn the other cheek now?  Should the USA and its citizens forget and become complacent like after the attack to the Twin Towers the first time?  Do you become selective for political posturing purposes with the November elections being all that matters?  Do you ignore the facts about others, because it is not politically appropriate even if justice demands it?  How would others feel today if it had been their country attacked like the United States on 9/11?  When does the line in the sand become exactly what it means?

I am not talking about shooting from the hip or running amok, but it has been a year with no proof of Osama being dead or the capture of the Taliban leader. One should be able to draw a logical conclusion that one or more nations must be helping to safeguard these and others guilty of 9/11 and many other atrocities. And for what reasons? It is an unfriendly act to the United States and its citizens who have suffered so much from 9/11 . . . Like a slap in the face while rallying support to persuade the USA to turn the other cheek . . . or even bend over!

What I am getting at here . . . is that this wound is still fresh and its healing requires the continuation of what started in Afghanistan even if it is determined to go beyond its borders.  It sure is better than hearing about another horrific terrorist attack.

It should be about . . . doing what is right and just!
