Patriot’s Dream Comes True by David Bancroft In late-March, I received an enthusiastic email from a soldier about a new country western singer . . . praising the singing talent and encouraging a visit to the singer’s site. I am not sure what I was doing at the time . . . other than being very busy. However, an email from or about one of our troops always gets my immediate attention, especially when it is sent to me, as the owner / founder of USA Patriotism! So, I decided to take a quick visit to this new country western singer’s site and to see what prompted the exuberant tone expressed by the sender. Well, it became an extended visit that left me very impressed with this young man’s voice and the quality of the songs written by him. Moreover, I learned that he recently was released from the U.S. Marines and served in Iraq during the same period as my youngest son. Needless to say, this bit of news brought a smile to this proud father . . . and reminded me of my April 2003 Perspective, "Very Proud and Worried". It is very refreshing to see a young man, who served his country proudly under combat conditions, having a chance to go after his dream of being a country western singer. Better yet, read his words for yourself… "I told myself over there ‘God, if I make it out of here, I’ll never ask you for another thing!’ I wanted to get back home and live my dream of being a country singer, and I realized in Iraq that life is too short not to go for the dreams you really want . . . Our American soldiers are proud, brave, strong and united. My work is a tribute to all those who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces today..."
Adam Marshall is this Marine / country western singer! Now, I won’t bore you with the specifics of contacting Adam through his record company, but do invite you to learn more about Adam Marshall at USA Patriotism! where you can also listen to his heart tugging patriotic song, "Come Home as Fast as You Can". Adam, wishing you only the best in your singing career and on behalf of my son -- "Semper Fi!" Side note… With all the sadness involved with loss of Pope John Paul II (a great man of immense faith and unyielding love), the events around Terry Shaivo's final days, and other troubling / tragic matters, I wanted this Perspective to be about a positive happening. I hope you agree that it did.
