Fined Again On The Information Highway Yes it is true. No matter what the world thinks I am a certified Hobo of the highway. Remembering back to the days when I waited patiently for the G-L and H-J edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica to arrive. Oh and how wonderful when the 1962 year in review would finally come. My, have we come a lone way now? I would look up Davy Crockett and get all of a four paragraph short biography, and if real lucky . . . a picture. Now, I can find oh maybe, 399 sites on the Internet with volumes of information on 'Ol Davy', along with every portrait or likeness of his image ever done. Yes, I used to get a ticket for traveling too slow and found myself actually getting impatient. Oh forgotten are the days of going to the index and flipping pages to find an article. No, now I am impatient, and need to not only access information at my brains capacity to think of a topic. I need it yesterday. This will never do so I get a modem, then DSL, and start looking into the heavens for satellites. Do I see a pattern here? It may be that I now need a speeding ticket. One wonders if the more we get, the more we want. Still . . . there may be something to just walking down to the store for an RC and a Moon Pie. |
