Christmas Eve Ski by JJ Oakley A flashback... Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house The children were rumbling and creating a rouse. I in my flip flops, and Mom in her robe stood out on the front lawn watching dad mount a globe. A little to the left, a bit to the right, now higher dear higher; It caused me a fright. The roof covered with snow; My flip were froze, and frost bite was covering the tip of my nose. Then what a wonderful surprise did occur! Come children and hurry, It was all quite a blur. A rouge gust of wind had pulled loose my grip and down from the chimney I began to slip. Down crashing the roof eve that just caught my hip. I gathered myself and turned like a clown, The flip flops took over and I began skiing down. Now dash away, dash away over the ridge. Straight towards the gutter I saw mother's frown. Get out of the way kids; Dad's coming down. Passing over the roof and onto the lawn the frozen thongs careening, and soon I was gone. Over the front yard and out towards the street, and know one can figure how I stayed on my feet. The children were laughing with joy, and glee watching as daddy was trying to ski. The journey had ended the mail box was strong, and dad learned a lesson about roof tops and thongs. |
